Engineering Manager (Java / PHP)

Engineering Manager: The Role

·You will lead a team of up to 30 Software Engineers, with Principal and Lead Engineers reporting directly into you.

·You will be responsible for both technical leadership and people management.

·You will manage and motivate a team of skilled engineers, providing clear direction, offering opportunities for career progression, and identifying any skills gaps or performance issues.

·You will prioritise best practice within the engineering team, to create a scalable and sustainable delivery pipeline.

·You will provide technical leadership and will play a key role in all key technology decisions. This could be around framework / language choices, coding practices, development build or deployment tooling.

·You will work closely with internal stakeholders including Architects, Test Managers and Design Leads, to agree / prioritise the roadmap and ensure successful delivery of high quality software solutions.

Engineering Manager: Key Skills and Experience

·You will currently be working in an Engineering Manager / Head of Engineering role (or similar), and will be responsible for leading a team of software engineers within an Agile / DevOps environment.

·You will have a strong technical background in opensource software, with hands-on expertise in Java or PHP.

·You will have come from an environment that is fast paced and dynamic, where software is “always-on” and customer experience is key.

·You will have exceptional leadership skills and the ability to inspire and motivate a team of Software Engineers of varying levels of experience.

·You will have strong problem solving skills and an analytical mindset, with an ability to work both autonomously and within a team to find a solution.
