Repairs Officer

Your new company

Asset management and housing management services for tenants and leaseholders of Lewes District Council and Eastbourne Borough Council is now being delivered by a new team. This new housing service called Homes First is part of the Lewes-Eastbourne shared services arrangement and Homes First will be having its official launch in spring 2018. Homes First amalgamates Lewes District Council's in house management of social housing with Eastbourne Borough Councils arms length management organisation (ALMO) Eastbourne Homes Ltd. Homes First manages a combined property portfolio of over 8,500 homes and will invest almost £20M per annum in maintenance, service contracts, major repairs and improvements. Our service is also growing as the Councils' new investment companies develop new housing covering a range of different tenures and accommodation types

Your new role

This pivotal role will provide assistance to the Property Services team by supporting the business and administration processes that ultimately have an impact on the services provided to tenants, leaseholders, shared owners and other stakeholders. Your role will focus within the Repairs Team that manages responsive repairs, disabled adaptations and repairs to vacant dwellings

It will involve

  • Responding to service enquiries received by telephone, email, letter & personal callers
  • Acting as first point of contact for contractors undertaking responsive repairs
  • Investigating complaints
  • Placing orders for repairs with supply chain partners
  • Compiling reports and statistics as required
  • Processing invoices from supply chain partners

What you'll need to succeed

You'll need to resilient and calm under pressure, have a methodical approach and be able to deal with customers in a confidential & sensitive manner, along with :

  • Basic knowledge of building maintenance
  • Customer Care experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications
  • Minimum of 4 x GCSE's or equivalent at Grade C or above inclusive of English & Maths
