The Helpdesk Engineer role is the primary contact for Varian Medical Systems (VMS) customer service and repair needs ensuring that our customers’ equipment operates efficiently at all times.

Responsibilities:

Provide phone support / remote assistance to customers and to Field Engineering team as required to achieve resolution of service needs in a timely manner.

Diagnose, test and maintain complex Varian Medical Systems (VMS) and provide service and support on Treatment systems according to technical documentation provided, to ensure that customers have their VMS equipment in perfect working condition at all times.

Assist customers in operation and maintenance of VMS products, to ensure customers/users are self-sufficient in operating and maintaining their equipment to an appropriate level.

Order spare parts for assigned customers including replenishing spare parts kits for warranty and contract customers.

Report by means of field service reports (FSR) / time sheets / expense reports, etc. (as applicable) regularly / weekly to ensure accurate company statistical data on customer-oriented activities is available / maintained up to date.

Call on and co-ordinate the intervention and activities of specialized VMS service and support experts when required, to ensure customers can operate their VMS equipment at all times according to technical and safety guidelines.

Input detailed records of service visits into company information systems, including technical problems, actions taken and parts employed to correct these problems, to ensure accurate updated customer maintenance information is available to other VMS parties.

Maintain up-to-date technical documentation, in order to permanently keep informed regarding all operating characteristics, design factors, technical performance and developments of VMS products.

Skills & Experience Required:

Degree, HND/HNC or equivalent education in Electronics, Electronic / Biomedical engineering or related fields

Experience on large capital equipment such as CT, MR or experience on high power RF systems such as radar.

Must have a customer focused attitude

Experience with CRM and ERP systems such as Salesforce and SAP is desirable

Familiar with business tools such as: e-mail, Microsoft Office, PDF, etc.

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Willing to work normal and non-normal hours as required to support the customers

Experience in a medical device or other heavily regulated industry is desirable
