About the role
In this critical role of Software Engineer in the Common Engineering Team you will bring your passion for Continuous Delivery, DevOps practices and automation to improve Ordnance Survey’s development capability. You will be required to build strong working relationships with other development teams across OS Engineering.
The team is currently focused on delivering a range of common capabilities to both speed up and improve security for multiple development teams developing solutions using a range of Azure IAAS and PAAS services. This is achieved through delivering code Artefacts, developing Services, providing consultancy and curating developer documentation.
You will be automating Azure deployments with Azure Resource Manager Templates, PowerShell scripting and creating Continuous Delivery Pipelines with Visual Studio Team Services. You will be expected to rapidly master these tools, previous experience with these specific tools is not required but an ability to learn them fast and apply a good grounding in software engineering best practices and principles across them is essential.
To be the successful Software Engineer you must demonstrate your track record against the following essential criteria and competencies in your application:

- Good level Software Engineering skills
- Creating rich developer focused documentation and examples
- Application of Security best practices and techniques
