Waste Management Enforcement Officer
Our client is a local council authority who is looking to recruit for an Enforcement Monitoring Officer initially on a six month basis but this is likely to be extended well beyond this.
Purpose of the Role
To undertake formal and informal enforcement action against individuals and businesses that breach waste related legislation, through investigation of offences leading to prosecution, issuing of penalty notices or other appropriate action.
Duties/ResponsibilitiesImplement policies in respect of enforcement of waste related issuesTake appropriate enforcement action breaches of legislationCarry out general enforcement duties including issuing fixed penalty noticesCollection of evidence to support all enforcement activities and documented in accordance with The Police and Criminal Evidence ActInspect contents of refuse sacks to identify breaches of legislationAdvise, educate and inform customers of their obligations and the services that are availableLiaison with refuse crews, street cleansing staff and other colleagues on all matters regarding enforcementDemonstrate a confident, assertive and professional manner when dealing with customers ensuring all codes of conduct are adhered to at all timesInvestigate traveller encampments, liaising directly with travellers and carrying out any enforcement activity requiredAttending forums and out of hours meetings on an ad hoc basis
The CandidateHave fully checkable work historyDBS check will be required prior to commencing roleOutstanding communication skills both verbal and writtenHave previous experience within an enforcement environmentPrevious working knowledge of local authorities would be advantageous
Salary £25k per annum
