Bench Technician




Introduction: Excellent opportunity for a permanent Bench Technician to join a family owned company currently employing nine full time staff.

Therefore, the successful Bench Technician will be working in a small but friendly environment within a team not just committed to satisfying customer's requirements but exceeding them.

The working environment is clean and tidy and all tooling, stationary, protective equipment if required will be provided.

Essential:The successful Bench Technician must have at least 3 year's experience in either an electronic or mechanical assembly environment.

Be able to solder to a high standard, read circuit diagrams, wiring schedules, and mechanical drawings and follow written procedures.

Know how to assemble and mount various components, identify, crimp and terminate wires and build precision assemblies.

Mechanical assembly will be required so a good understanding of engineering, materials, descriptions and their properties along with familiarisation of modern manufacturing techniques and processes would be desirable.

Be prepared to work at customer's premises.

Responsibilities:To build custom and bespoke cable assemblies, wiring looms and harnesses. To assemble, wire and test products to customers wiring schedules, drawings, samples or procedures. To carry out both mechanical and electronic assembly, which may involve drilling, tapping and sawing along with component mounting, identifying, wiring and terminating. Any other duties consider relevant to the above.

The successful Bench Technician may also be asked to support our cable Technicians so experience of various types of cable termination techniques and soldering along with any other electronic experience would be a big advantage.

Experience:An absolute minimum of 3 years in an assembly position and a good understanding of both electronic and mechanical practices and principals are essential. Ideally a minimum qualification of an ONC or HNC in electronics or mechanical engineering, all though some training will be given.

Holiday/Lunch:Successful applicants will be entitled to 20working day's holiday plus all public holidays. Two 10-minute paid breaks Tea & Coffee is provided free of charge and ½ hour un-paid lunch.

Sickness:Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) will be provided by the employers at the appropriate rate. This will only be paid on days you would normally work.

Hours:Hours of work are 8.00pm to 4.00pm Monday to Friday; Overtime may be available however this is at the Employers discretion.
