Children Residential Practitioner
£27,000 to £28,000 per annum
Peritus Healthcare are pleased to consider applications for the position of Children’s Residential Practitioner in Somerset.
Our client is a dynamic and innovative organization that’s provides residential child care for Children and Young People aged 6 – 17 years old, who are looked after by their local authority.
They look after Children and Young People who present with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) including presenting issues of self-harm, inappropriate sexualized behaviour, Child Sexual Exploitation, loss, bereavement and attachment trauma.
Ideally applicants will have a background in residential child care and experience working with children with disabilities would be an advantage. An essential requirement for this post is either a social work or nursing qualification.
You will be joining a highly motivated and enthusiastic team who endeavour to make significant changes in young people’s lives. As the Practitioner you will be part of the management team, however an integral part of this role is the requirement to work on shift, weekend working, sleeping in and taking part in the on call system.
You will also have some office hours in which you will contribute to the monitoring, evaluation and review of policies and procedures, provide supervision, monitor and address staff performance.

To adhere to the Oracle Care & Education ethos and work within policy and practice guidelines
To actively participate in the development of a therapeutic environment and ensure that the highest standards of care are provided for each young person
To be a key worker to specific children and participate in the primary care and support for all children and young people with the home
To participate in the development of individual risk assessments, behaviour support and treatment plans
To contribute to care planning, participating in reviews and other meetings as required, and to assist in the implementation of care plans
To be alert to signs of distress or abuse, and to ensure that the young people are monitored and protected following safeguarding procedures
To ensure the health & safety of children is monitored in accordance with the law and good practice guidance

Qualifications Required

Social Work or Nursing qualification.
Ideally SVQ level 3 in Social Care/ SVQ level 3 in Childcare
Proven track record working within professional care, especially with complex or challenging behaviours
Strong written and verbal communication skills
