Brunel is a NEW 32 bed neuropsychiatry and neurobehavioural service for men with mental health difficulties and acquired brain injury. It is located in Henbury in Bristol.
Our patient-centred and flexible rehabilitation model aims to reduce risk, maximise independence, improve quality of life and, where possible, help those affected to fully recover. By using our model, we can define and set step-by-step objectives that cross all areas of an individual`s psychological and behavioural development. Our key areas of our care model are: admission, goal setting, treatment and therapy, consolidation.
Brunel offers an innovative and proactive rehabilitation environment, which maximises our service users` ability to retain functions such as sequence of movements and speech and language skills. The hospital comprises of four wards, Klipper, Pilot, Ketch and Yawl. All feature adapted DDA kitchens with lower counters, plus all doors are widened.
Service users have access to a gym, internet cafe, two gardens, an atrium room with salad bar, treatment rooms and visitors` room that doubles up as a multi-faith room. All service user bedrooms are en-suite and there is also access to various communal lounges, dining rooms and meeting rooms. One lounge features a TV and the other is suitable as a quiet room. Cooking skills training is also available in supervised ADL kitchens.
In this role you will:
• Assess social and health needs of prospective Patients and subsequently to monitor the planning and on-going evaluation of care
• Ensure that all referrals are adequately assessed with all reports prepared within set time limits, comprehensively and to a high standard
• Continually assess and supervise the work of Staff to ensure consistently high standards and efficient running of the Hospital while creating an atmosphere conducive to the best interests of the Patients
• Manage and maintain agreed budgets, in conjunction with the Operations Director or Group Directors, by monitoring on a weekly basis and taking corrective action as required
• Lead the implementation of risk assessment, risk management and embed clinical governance within the Hospital.
We're looking for people who:
• Have first class knowledge of the CQC guidelines and the Mental Health Act
• Have post registration experience.
• Have experience in acute, rehabilitation or forensic psychiatry.
• Have previous management / supervisory experience
• Are a Registered Mental Health Nurses or Registered Nurse Learning Disabilities (with current PIN)
• Have evidence of functioning in a supervisory role as a clinician in a similar setting within a multi-disciplinary team.
