Our client is an established company and part of a major international group. It has a high reputation for the performance, quality and reliability of its diverse and growing product range which comprises mechanical and electronic disciplines, with innovation and new product introductions being a constant theme in the business. Products are designed to meet demanding international performance standards and there is an increasing use of intelligent controls, communications and associated applications.
This key role carries responsibility for the direction, leadership and management of a multi-disciplined design engineering team which has substantial accumulated experience of designing products for the company’s evolving market applications. Reporting to the Engineering Director the primary objective is to apply formal project management disciplines and stage-gate development processes to strengthen the NPD process in-line with the company’s development plan. This is a significant employer with more than 500 staff and on site production facilities. The parent company is a recognised global name in which there are significant career development opportunities. Candidates will need to be degree qualified engineers with a mechanical, electrical or electronics background who have built their careers through the development engineering route. You will have experience of managing a multi-disciplined team, developing lighting products both from a mechanical and electronic design perspective; most importantly you will have had experience and demonstrable success in the planning and execution of development programs into commercialisation in response to defined market requirements and demanding timescales.
You will have a full grasp of Tollgate design processes and be a familiar user of Value Analysis, Value Engineering techniques in the optimisation of new product designs. Specific areas of interest to the client include product groups such as security, lighting, home automation, access control or consumer products and systems.
