Pertemps are working in partnership with a market leading manufacturing business, recruiting for an experienced Area Engineering Supervisor (FMCG, Plant Engineering Supervisor) to join and support the Engineering Manager.

The Area Engineering Supervisor (AES) is responsible for the planning and delivery of all preventative maintenance activities within own area’s of the plant utilising the on shift maintenance engineers, days based PPM crew & specialist contractors to deliver an effective PPM strategy to deliver plant reliability, in addition the AES will provide Engineering support to the on shift Operations Managers, OPEX leaders, Operators & Maintenance teams in problem solving, CI & area improvement opportunities.

Working Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30AM – 5PM
Reporting To: Engineering Manager

What are your responsibilities as an Area Engineering Supervisor:
  • Ensure all PM activities are fully planned & communicated to all concerned with sufficient resource, materials and contractors (if required) in place to deliver the planned work.
  • Ensure that the PPM activities are completed within the agreed timescales as set out and agreed in advance with the production planner & operations managers.
  • Ensure all PM & CM w/o’s are completed and closed of on the company CMMS. SAP system.
  • Ensure that both the PPM strategy and content of PM w/o’s is such to deliver an effective maintenance regime that provides equipment reliability.
  • Continually monitor all breakdown issues vs the PPM plan and content to ensure it remains effective in preventing unplanned breakdown losses.
  • Ensure all regulatory compliance requirements are met and kept up to date, Insurance inspections, Safety related PM’s, CCP Calibrations, Ops and Engineering Contractor Control etc.
  • Provide Engineering solutions & guidance to others in own area’s of responsibility.
  • Training & development of the on Shift Maintenance teams to ensure all are capable and competent to fulfil their duties.
  • Ensure sufficient priority and resource is allocated to Corrective Maintenance work as generated by either CBM Technician, CI Condition Reports, T Cards from Ops or Follow up M1 w/o’s from PM inspections.
  • Review and improve existing equipment and facilities in a controlled and methodical manner.
  • Advising on new equipment, new layout new processes to increase production, reliability, efficiency and or cost benefits.
  • Any other adhoc duties as required

  • Safety awareness inc SSOW development and Activity based RA completion
  • Awareness & understanding of Plastic Sort, Wash, Flake and Extrusion based equipment
  • Regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Preventative Maintenance methods & control of (CMMS)
  • Fault Finding & Continuous Improvement methods
  • Understanding of Chemicals in use & their storage and handling requirements
  • Overview of planning and operational scheduling
  • Full understanding of key business areas to including; Financial, Operations, Planning, Supply Chain, Maintenance
  • Maintenance of Plant Equipment within a fast paced manufacturing environment.
  • Managing teams of multi disciplined maintenance engineers.
  • CMMS systems (SAP M1 desirable)
  • Preventative Maintenance methods, TPM, AM, CBM.
  • Managing sub contractors and service agreements.
  • Application of statistical, root cause and problem solving tools.
  • Recognised Engineering/Maintenance apprenticeship, Mechanical/Electrical or Multi Skilled to C&G & HNC academic levels, HND desirable.
