This exciting new unit will treat a variety of malignant and non-malignant haematology conditions in children and young people requiring blood and marrow transplantation, as well as providing autologous transplantation for specific oncology disorders.This is an exceptional opportunity to work closely with world-leading paediatric haematology consultants, whilst receiving ongoing support from our in-house training and development team, allowing you to provide a seamless world-class service to children and their families.The unit will be supported by HCA's Sarah Cannon Research Institute and will also be working towards obtaining JACIE accreditation.Job DescriptionAs a Staff Nurse within the new PBMT unit you will work as a skilled member of the nursing team, providing a high standard of holistic family centred care to the children and their families.This is a full time position: 37.50 hours per week on rotation (Although we will consider flexible working requests)The attractive and competitive salary for this role is £31,630 - £35,822 plus a 9% shift enhancement and will be dependent upon skills and experience.Benefits: We'll look after you with our contribution pension scheme, the use of all HCA facilities for acute medical conditions, annual salary review, 25 days holiday each year and access to a fantastic flexible benefits scheme. You can expect to be working in an environment that promotes the development of your skills and knowledgeDuties & ResponsibilitiesProvide the highest standard of nursing care for the children and their families within BMT unit. Planning, assessing, implementing and evaluating programmes of care for individual children and to supervise other staff in this activity.Recognise, react and appropriately manage haematological and oncological emergencies, reporting these appropriately and in a timely mannerEnsure an ongoing welcoming, caring and safe environment is provided for the children and their families.Act as an advocate for the child and family, providing them with information and support and directing them to the relevant support services where appropriate.Communicate complex and sensitive information effectively to patients, carers and other staff, overcoming any barriers to understanding and providing support during distressing or emotional events.Start planning discharges from admission, liaising with the multidisciplinary team, other departments and community services as necessary.Skills & ExperienceAs a child registered nurse, you will have experience of working within an acute transplant unit, although we will welcome applications from anyone from an oncology/haematology & immunology background that would be keen to begin a career in BMT.About The IndividualYou will have strong experience of having worked with acute/chronically sick children with an up to date understanding of professional and current issues in children's nursing.
