The Barnet Respiratory COPD service is a community based provision for adults within the London Borough of Barnet. The service provides a range of therapeutic interventions for diagnosed COPD patients inclusive of community outpatient respiratory clinics, spirometry, pulmonary rehabilitation, hospital at home, exacerbation management and a home oxygen assessment and review service.

We are currently seeking an experienced respiratory nurse to join the service.

Key areas of delivery for the post include:

• To work utilising advanced appropriate evidence based clinical investigative, assessment and treatment skills across a variety of settings including patients’ homes and outpatient clinics setting.

• To accept clinical responsibility for a specialised caseload of patients, and to organise this effectively and efficiently with regard to clinical priorities and use of time.

• To support the professional development of staff within the service and students on placement.

• To assess and manage patients across the disease condition spectrum inclusive of home oxygen therapy provision, pulmonary rehabilitation, psychological interventions and medication reviews, end of life care adhering to evidence based guidelines.

• To participate and support the senior service staff in the planning and delivery of service delivery targets and key performance indications.

• To undertake audit, patient experience capture and improvement work as required within role function.

Successful applicant will be joining a multidisciplinary team of consultants, physiotherapists and nurses with a respiratory care speciality. Due to the delivery aspects of this role a car driver, with access to their own vehicle, is required.
