We seek an IT Solution Engineer (IT Services & Cloud) to join our client who offer IT Services nationally from their base in Amersham, Bucks. They offer a salary range of £30,000-£40,000 Basic + Attractive Benefits

Core competencies:

  • 2-3 years’ experience in a technical operations role (hands-on)
  • Experience in the areas of IT Services, Backup & Cloud
  • Experience in a customer-facing role (telephone and/or face-to-face)
  • Great team-player, but also able to take initiative yourself, when required

About the Role

You will join a vibrant and funky team who enjoy regular outings, and your duties will include:

  • Providing on-going management and support of VMware infrastructure platform, Enterprise Managed Services and network/security services
  • Involvement in support, planning, implementing and updating existing and new services
  • Acting as a service architect, when required, by suggesting upgrades and documenting design ideas
  • Investigating and implementing automation, time-saving and efficiency tools and approaches - where possible

You must be technical and understand your subject matter, but you also need to be customer-facing; both directly and regularly via telephone, therefore you must be very comfortable in this capacity and also a fantastic team player. “Lone wolves” need not apply - these teams are very social and regularly enjoy X-box breaks, fitness classes, team outings and incentives together!

Required/Desirable Skills

Our client does not expect you to be an expert in all the areas detailed below, however minimally a working knowledge of principles in the majority of areas is required:

  • Backup Applications
  • Enterprise level knowledge (ie CommVault)
  • Cloud (Private/Public)
Understand and awareness of ITIL Process
  • Network
  • Switching (VLANs, port configuration, port channels, understanding of network topologies and traffic flow)
  • Firewall (NAT, ACLs, VPN) – Cisco ASA, Check Point, VMware NSX desirable
VMware (vCenter, ESX)Windows admin experience0365Understand how to troubleshoot problems from end-to-endAbility to interpret monitoring tools and troubleshoot in a methodological way
