1:1 Teaching Assistant - Challenging Behaviour - Newport
A job has become available for a Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child with Challenging Behaviour within the Year 2 class. This job is working within a large, mainstream, multicultural Primary School in Newport. The school draws from a mixed catchment area and has a whole-school behaviour management approach, so you will need to be able to adhere to school behaviour policies, as well as drawing upon your own experience and techniques.
Experience of supporting children within Key Stage 1 is essential. The support that the child needs will be allocated 1:1 time to assist with the delivery of activities based around learning and developmental milestones, as set out by the class teacher. You will need to be able work very closely with the class teacher to identify areas where the child need additional support, providing feedback to the class teacher where appropriate as well as working with the teacher to plan and prepare resources. The right person for the job will be empathetic and understanding and will nurture/support the child in all aspects, including emotional support. You will support the child with an inclusion-based approach, assisting the child in part-taking in wider class/group activities, supporting the development of social interaction and communication skills.

In order to apply for this position it is essential that you have the following;
An NVQ Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent/above)
Proven experience of working with children within a mainstream primary school environment Experience of working within the Foundation Phase and a good knowledge of early years education
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
An adaptable and pro-active attitude
The ability to work as part of a team to create a positive and progressive learning environment An empathetic and understanding approach A dedicated and committed attitude and a good work ethic A genuine passion for working with children and supporting children with additional needs
