We are currently recruiting for an experienced SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environmental, Quality) & Compliance Manager to join our team. This role will be directly reporting into the Group SHEQ & Compliance Manager.

The role would suit someone with the necessary gravitas to take responsibility for both strategic and operational matters relating to compliance, SHEQ, wellbeing planning and management within the Company.

Salary: Competitive salary dependent on experience & company car.

The role will involve a considerable amount of traveling on a national basis.

Duties include:

·Maintaining asbestos and other essential operational licenses

·Maintaining ISO compliance and renewal

·Management of internal SHEQ reports, inspections, advisories & audits

·Management of external compliance audits

·Management of external accreditations

·Management of key statistical compliance, SHEQ and wellbeing reporting

·Assist in SHEQ departmental management and development

·Management of statutory compliance & legal updates

·Process mapping

·Scoping, development and implementation of management systems

·Client, employees, contractors & suppliers feedback

·Management of employee survey results

·Assisting with setting organisational SHEQ objectives & targets and KPI

·Providing the Managing Director & Board with information in relation to compliance, SHEQ, wellbeing and continual improvement

The successful candidate will possess a combination of qualities including:

  • 15 years or more SHEQ experience
  • Team management experience is an advantage
  • Experince of coaching/ mentoring/ developing H&S team members
  • Construction, demolition, asbestos or rail infrastructure industry experience
  • Hold a relevant degree
  • Hold NEBOSH diploma or equivalent
  • Hold a lead auditor qualification
  • Membership of IOSH & IEMA, other memberships would be advantageous
  • Adult training qualification, e.g. Train the Trainer, PTLLS, etc.
  • Hold other relevant SHEQ qualifications and has maintained a record of CPD or personal improvement of professional knowledge
  • Experience of developing behavioural and cultural change programmes
  • Experience, knowledge and skills to promote, develop and establish a positive safety culture within the Company so that it can meet its legal requirements
  • Capable of working on own initiative with excellent time management
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in order to explain health and safety processes to a wide range of people and to give presentations to groups
  • Negotiating skills- to convince managers of the need to implement and maintain safety standards that may compromise speed or efficiency in the organisation
  • Patience and diplomacy
