PPD is currently looking to recruit a Scientist be based on-site at one of our clients in Stevenage, Hertfordshire as part of contracted work from PPD.

The role is to provide analytical chemistry expertise and support within the Analytical Sciences and Development Department for the development, transfer and utilisation of analytical methods to generate data for inclusion into regulatory submissions.

The ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate the flexibility required to accommodate evolving analytical requirements inherent in a Research and Development environment combined with experience of working to GMP standards.

Basic Requirements:

* Batchelor of Science Degree in an Analytical Chemistry related discipline

Required Experience:

* 2-5 years' experience of working in a GMP Analytical Laboratory environment or equivalent.

* Method Development experience in Gas Chromatography is essential.

* Experience using GS-MS and LC-MS with an in-depth technical understanding on the operation of the systems, their application in both quantitative analysis and structural characterisation.

* Experience with Validation of Chromatographic Methods according to ICH guidelines.

* Strong analytical laboratory skills to include but not limited to; motivation and the ability to solve complex problems, systematic approach to tasks, excellent attention to detail, excellent communication and presentation skills.

* Previous experience of quantifying analytes by GC-MS.

* Use of the GC systems for peak identification

* Ability to work independently.

* Ability to write protocols and technical reports with minimum supervision.

* Expected to demonstrate good scientific judgement and initiative in the achievement of defined objectives.

* Good knowledge of the underlying principles of a wide range of analytical techniques.

* Positive attitude and the ability to work well with others.
