Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer

SEAMARK plc is one of the leading, privately owned food manufacturers in Europe with its head office and two processing factory sites based in Manchester.

The company now wants to recruit an experienced Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer who ideally has an electrical bias.

The successful candidate will be responsible for making sure the production plant and equipment run smoothly in a food manufacturing environment.

This role requires close liaison with production management so that repairs and PPM can be arranged without disrupting production demands.

Maintenance Engineer Role

  • Responsible for all electrical repairs across the group, based in Manchester.
  • Assist in site general maintenance.
  • Liaise with off-site engineers / contractors when planning repairs.
  • Respond to machinery breakdowns and undertake repairs quickly & efficiently.
  • Respond to Health & Safety requirements when keeping all equipment in good safe working order.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance on all plant equipment and aim to achieve maximum plant availability/efficiency.
  • Ensure consumable spares are kept in stock.
  • Service and maintain a log of all repairs and service records.
  • Maintain a safe and tidy working environment.
  • Ensure all Health & Safety regulations are adhered to.

This is a day shift position, usually working 8.00am – 5.00pm, Monday to Friday but due to the nature of the position the job holder may be required to work outside of these hours to satisfy the needs of the business.

To fulfil the role requirements, the successful candidate will be required to undertake local travel between company sites, based in East Manchester.

Maintenance Engineer Candidate:

  • Previous experience working within a food manufacturing/FMCG environment would be an advantage.
  • Must hold recognised electrical qualifications - BS 7671,17th edition, City & Guilds or equivalent
  • Must be flexible, self-motivated, and able to problem solve, troubleshoot, locate and repair faults in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, independently and as part of a team.
