SLD Teacher Key stage 4 Special secondary school for ASD/SLD London Borough of Southwark Long Term Contract Immediate or January Start Great pay rates We are currently looking for an SEN Teacher to join this 'good' SEN School in Southwark. The school caters for students aged 11 to 17 with severe learning disabilities (SLD). Many students at this school also have additional needs including Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Complex Medical Needs. The school The school is located within a short walk from the underground station, and with a number of bus stops outside, this SEN school is easily accessible by public transport. This school boasts a number of state of the art facilities including a soft play room and a multi-sensory room with sensory pods and a sensory wall. Each student at this school is provided with a laptop. The role The successful SEN Teacher would be planning and delivering a range of subjects to a class of up to 8 students with the aid of at least 2 teaching assistants. Students at this level have access to a range of national curriculum subjects differentiated to meet their needs, and you would be delivering a range of English, Maths, Science, ICT, Drama and Art lessons. As an SEN Teacher, you would be assessing student's progress using B-Squared and monitoring each student's progress through individual learning programmes which you would use to discuss progress with parents, therapists and senior leadership regularly. The candidate Due to the needs of the students at this school, experience in using PECS, Makaton or Elklan is desirable however the school provides training to all new staff in these communication tools. In addition, this SEN School also provides continuous training in Manual Handling and Team Teach to all support and teaching staff.
