Catastrophe Risk Modeller

This is an excellent opportunity for a Catastrophe Risk Modeller to join a growing function within a large international insurer which offers exposure to wide range of risks.

The Catastrophe Risk Modeller is responsible for developing and building catastrophe risk models and modifying vendor models to produce bespoke and accurate analysis on all catastrophe-exposed accounts.

Role responsibilities:
  • Lead the development and programming of Catastrophe models.
  • Improve business work-flow, controls and reporting for catastrophe modelling team through automation of processes, developing bespoke systems.
  • Programme and develop technical pricing tools.
  • Provide underwriters and wider business with detailed analysis of model outputs for all Catastrophe exposed accounts.
  • Support the lead underwriters in decision making for complex risks that fall outside of scope of vendor models including complex reinsurance structures and non-modelled risks.
  • Provide expert knowledge of natural hazards and catastrophe modelling methodologies
Experience:
  • Strong Mathematical, statistical and analytical background.
  • Previous experience within Insurance / Re Insurance, ideally with in Catastrophe risk Modelling or actuarial.
  • Expert user of SQL, R and other programming tools.
  • Advanced knowledge and user of RMS.
  • Good understanding of insurance and the Lloyd’s market
