The IT Database and Application Support Administrator is responsible for providing ongoing management and support activities to the current database environment and application portfolio whilst delivering first and second line technical support.
The IT Database and Application Support Administrator will deliver database management best practice within the organisation and will be responsible for the design, configuration, availability, integrity and security of all databases, and data sources.
Key Responsibilities:
To provide subject matter expertise in the areas of database administration and management, application management, and business support.Effectively resolves and manages issues.Delivers best practice and puts in place plans and designs that consider the future of the organisation.Administers and monitors the database environment and application portfolio.Builds on the knowledge base and actively manages the knowledge base.Actively contributes to the CMDB.Fosters positive relationships with key business stakeholders and drives service engagement across the business.Is a champion for continuous improvement and is able to effectively track and monitor KPIs to demonstrate positive improvement.Delivers subject matter expertise for Major Incidents, Problems, and is able to deliver Changes within the operational environment.Works with business operations teams to ensure good coordination of IT changes without impacting the business.Maintains currency on new technologies and technical practices, and provides direction on what emerging IT technologies and methods should be introduced and integrated
The Person:
You will have first-hand experience of SQL Server administration and management along with some application support activities. Candidates applying will need an effective understanding and appreciation of IT security, infrastructure, and networking, have great database management skills and effective problem-solving skills. You will need a passion for continuous improvement and development both personally and professionally, a desire to continually learn, develop and excel fulfilling a variety of versatile functions within Information Technology. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts and technologies to non-technical colleagues, and business concepts to the IT workforce.
