Senior multi-skilled Engineer

£39,000 - £43,00 dependent upon shift pattern
Location: Nottingham, East Midlands


Our client is a renowned and admired manufacturing business, enjoying UK dominance and market leading status in their category sector.

As a result of sustained business expansion, an opportunity has arisen for two Multi-Skilled Shift Technicians /Engineers to work on a rotating shift pattern.

Your role:

Responsible to the Maintenance Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for troubleshooting and high level fault finding duties in order to maintain and enhance world class, fully automated production, process and front line packaging machinery.

To ensure that plant and equipment at a world class award winning site are maintained to the appropriate standard to ensure that their engineering performance is world class! continually improving performance of equipment and\or systems to support the development of the site.

All items of plant and equipment are maintained to ensure their performance is safe, reliable and in accordance with the principles of world class maintenance performance.

Monitor plant operational efficiency, reliability and capability of all plant and equipment, identifying areas of under-performance or opportunity and implement plans to deliver improvement projects.

Diagnose and rectify problems with manufacturing equipment and systems following a reliability centred and proactive approach.
*Agree preventative maintenance plans, routine remedial action, machine design modifications, and operating & changeover procedures with Manufacturing Maintenance and Operations teams
*Use the maintenance system and resource to ensure that all agreed maintenance and improvement work is completed.

How are you measured?
*Improving machine availability and reducing downtime
*Improving machine efficiency
*Changeover & run-up performance.
*Achievement of Preventative Maintenance Plan.

You will have full autonomy to make decisions around the following areas:

*Recommend and implement changes to machine operation and maintenance procedures
*Recommend and deliver improvements to machine design
*Ensure a balance of time is spent on improvement as well as firefighting or day to day tasks
*Ensure maintenance works planned to minimise impact on production operations and have no impact on customer service
*Ensure you are always up to date with new technologies and their potential application
*Influencing senior people, working within a matrix environment, difficult trading conditions, current people issues, budget constraints etc

Qualifications and Skills

*Apprentice trained in an engineering discipline, experience as a Craftsman
*HNC or equivalent in electrical, mechanical or production maintenance engineering
*Extensive Experience in the maintenance and troubleshooting of manufacturing systems
*Ability to demonstrate strong team working with good interpersonal skills
*Flexible to respond to changing priorities; able to work on own initiative
