Howells Solutions are working in partnership with a leading housing association to recruit a Category Manager to work within their Construction and Property Team.

The main purpose of the Category Manager is to further develop and lead a programme of key procurement tasks to support the Group in meetings its savings targets, whilst driving a strategic, holistic approach to spend.

As a Category Manager, you will be the procurement specialist for the relevant category of spend working in collaboration with Property Services, initially, to deliver our ambitious savings targets, reduce risk and drive a step change in the way procurement is under within the business. As such you will bring strong communication and interpersonal skills to quickly build relationships with your key stakeholders and support them address the key procurement challenges in their business area.

While your initial focus will be working with Property Services, you will be expected to build a relationship with our Development Team to add value to their existing processes and procedures. Furthermore, you will be required to support the Head of Procurement in implementing procurement, contract and supplier management governance, policies and processes that creates a culture which strives for continuous improvement in service outcomes, performance and value for money

Ideal Candidate:

  • MCIPS qualification, or working towards or demonstrable equivalent and relevant experience.
  • Significant and extensive procurement experience with a strong focus on repairs and maintenance and development categories, relevant contracting and commercial models within a similar sized private or public sector organisation.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing sizeable procurement programmes, supplier selection, negotiation and complex contract management.
  • A proven track record of delivering savings, value for money and efficiency gains within relevant categories of spend.
  • Working knowledge of relevant standard forms of contract for construction and maintenance activities and applicable legislation, such as CDM regulations including the 2015 amendments
  • You will be able to confidently manage the procurement process for all contracts in line with EU Legislation, ensuring a balance between delivering the required outcomes, quality, cost and maintaining compliance with processes and procedures
  • Salary and Benefits:

    This is a permanent, full time role 37 per week to be worked Monday to Friday for which you will receive a highly competitive salary of up to £45,000 plus benefits including holiday entitlement of 25 days a year, rising to 27 days after two years' service along with up to 10 days flexi leave can be taken in a year.
