Citizens Advice Cumbria seeks a new Chair to lead our board of directors and guide our mission and development.
Citizens Advice Cumbria (CAC) is made up of the 5 local Citizens Advice operating in the six districts of Cumbria with trustees and Chief Officers from each sitting on the board. We have begun an ambitious review of CAC’s purpose and operations with a view to confirming strategic objectives for the next decade and to agreeing a robust business and development plan which best serves members and their constituencies.
We do this against a backdrop in which demand for Citizens Advice Services in Cumbria has increased substantially over the last 5 years. Growing personal debt and further Welfare Reform, particularly with the extension of Universal Credit to all benefit claimants indicates further increases are likely. Recognised as one of the most trusted advice providers, CAC is determined that our services will focus on meeting this demand, especially for those most in need.
The Chair will play a vital role in ensuring that CAC completes this undertaking so must be able to demonstrate:
- Commitment to the aims and principles of Citizens Advice
- Experience of effective chairing meetings and committee work
- Experience of leading change management & partnership working
- Excellent communication and inter-personal skills
The post is voluntary, requiring a commitment of 2 to 3 days per month and will involve some travel to local Citizens Advice offices across Cumbria, for which travel expenses are paid.
The deadline for EOIs is Monday 4th December 2017. We are looking to appoint a chair by the end of January 2018.
