Our prestigious Automotive client based in Gaydon, Warwickshire is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior CAD Engineer (Suspension Systems) to work within our Clients ever expanding Chassis Engineering department on a full time basis.
Within Suspension Systems Architecture the Structural Mounting System team has responsibility for Design and Delivery of Engine and Transmission mounting brackets.
Chassis Engineering is responsible for the design and release of a number of key vehicle system: Suspension Systems Architecture (SSA), Suspension System Tuning (SST), Braking, Steering Wheels and Tyres (SWAT) and Axle Concepts and Chassis System Integration (AC&CSI).
The Suspension System Architecture (SSA) team is responsible for the design, analysis and release of vehicle chassis structural components including suspension links, knuckles, bearings, bushes and frames. This includes developing and implementing system and component strategies, developing detailed designs and delivering Engineering sign-off against customer requirements. Engine & Transmission Structural Mounting Systems are relatively simple parts, however they have significant interactions with other parts, and vehicle attributes. Delivery of these components and systems is an essential element in delivering successful and profitable programmes.
This is a brilliant opportunity for the chosen candidate to work in a very modern and luxurious working environment. The successful Senior CAD Engineer (Suspension Systems) will be working a 40 hour week with access to onsite parking.

Key Responsibilities:
  • To produce detailed 3D models and 2D drawings for these components and release through TeamCentre
  • This predominantly involves design in context of complex castings and occasionally fabrications requiring the CAD Engineer to create geometry in both solids and surfaces and interpret and conduct CAE analysis to iterate the designs
  • Key Skills Required for Submission:
  • Proven ability to use CATIA V5 for both solid and surface modelling
  • Proven ability of interpretation of and ability to conduct CAE stress and durability analysis to iterate and optimise designs (Abaqus, Optistrut, Hypermesh, nCode (fatigue)
  • Proven ability to produce detailed engineering drawings
  • Skills Required:

  • Proven ability to produce detailed engineering drawings including application of appropriate GD&T
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes used in aluminium HPDC and fabricated bracket construction
  • Ability to design for manufacturing compatibility (castings, sheet metal)
  • IT skills (Microsoft software skills, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Proven problem solving skills
  • Ability to react quickly to change
  • Knowledge of DFMEA, Engineering Specifications and Design Verification Plans (DVP)
