Job Description:

This position is a permanent full time role for a Nursery Nurse.

In order to apply you MUST have a level three childcare qualification (or above) as well as relevant, necessary nursery experience.

You will be accountable to the room manager and other management.

You will be working Monday to Friday between 8am – 6pm. Shifts are on a weekly rota.

Responsibilities include:

·To provide for the welfare and personal development of each pupil through; providing a clean, safe and happy environment, writing observations and reports , maintaining Learning Journals to the standard required by First Place Nurseries, planning appropriate activities to ensure their continued development through the EYFS and preparing and clearing away activities in all areas of nursery including the garden

·To recognise the possibility of additional needs of the children including behavioural needs and reporting these to the Room Manager/Deputy/SENCO or Nursery Manager

·To work with SENCO and any other agencies to ensure children receive essential support

·To be aware of and carry out all safeguarding and security procedures

·To be able to carry and lift children, particularly for changing nappies. To be able to carry equipment and resources if required

·To attend to and share needs of your key group and contribute new activity ideas to weekly curriculum planning meetings

·To communicate with parents in a professional manner regarding their child’s progress through informal conversation and in more formal meetings and parent’s events and consultations.

·To attend Staff Meetings, nursery events and curriculum days as requested by the Nursery Manager

·To attend to, record and monitor hazards, accidents and illnesses by completing Room and Garden Safety Checks, Accident/Incident Books and reporting any risks or maintenance needs found.

·To ensure that all nursery policies and procedures are adhered to. To stay up to date of any changes to Staff Handbook, signing declaration form to indicate your understanding of the policies and procedures

·To ensure you are aware of any illnesses, allergies or family circumstances for all children

·To attend to any minor first aid or personal health care incidents including changing nappies

·To attend to, record and monitor hazards, accidents and illnesses by completing Room and Garden Safety Checks, Accident/Incident Books and reporting any risks or maintenance needs found to Room Manager to relay to Deputy or Head.

·To be prepared to work in any room within the nursery to gain experience and meet the needs of the organisation

·To keep a record of your own professional development and attend such training as deemed necessary by the Nursery Manager

·To cover lunchtime duties if and when required.

·To be willing to take on a co-ordinator role.

·To carry out all other duties as requested by the Nursery Manager

There will be other duties and requirements associated with your job, and in addition, as a term of your employment you may be required to undertake various other duties as may reasonably be required

Qualifications Required: A level three childcare specific qualification or above and senior / management nursery experience within the last two years

Salary: National Living Wage

Hours: Full time - Differing working hours between the opening hours of the nursery (8.00am – 6pm) – hours on a rota basis
