Our Client is a rapidly growing, successful outdoor clothing and equipment retailer with over 200 stores across the UK and internationally, their performance products include hiking, travelling, skiing, camping, cycling and outdoor activities.We are recruiting a multi product Childrenswear Garment Technologist to work across performance and Activewear.
The responsibilities of the Childrenswear Garment Technologist include:
  • Managing the fit process from development through to production.
  • Manage the overall quality across multi-product, ensuring the quality standards meet our customer and business expectations.
  • Working closely with buyers and suppliers to making sure that samples meet the desired design aesthetic from initial concept through to production
  • Organize fit meetings with Buying teams in which you will pro-actively advise on areas of construction, fit and fabric/ yarn suitability
  • Sending out detailed fit comments in a timely manner to suppliers and manufacturers so that delivery schedules are kept and key deadlines are met.
  • Compiling new specs, grade product specs and establish blocks.
  • Liaise with suppliers to aid technical knowledge, improve product, technical issues etc.
  • Carry out garment risk assessments to ensure fabric performance and garment meets childrenswear legal standards as well as meeting our customer’s expectations, approve test reports and conduct wearer trials were appropriate.
  • Ensure that in house testing is enacted and all testing procedures are adhered to.
  • Work over 2 main seasons A/W and S/S.
  • Communicate with AB’s to ensure that the tech sheets are accurate and up to date with regards to style details, size specification and garment construction.
  • Develop strong relationship with team members

Requirements for Childrenswear Garment Technologist:
  • A qualification in Textiles or Fashion at Degree or equivalent level.
  • Knowledge of working across different product areas and previous experience working as a Childrenswear Garment Technologist
  • Exceptionally organized and methodical approach to work, driven by the detail and able to work in a demanding, fast paced environment.
  • Liaising with offshore production, suppliers and factories and participating the quality control process.
  • Ability to work to critical path deadlines.
  • Extensive knowledge of fitting, grading and garment construction
  • A good knowledge of yarns, fabrics and testing procedure.
  • Fully understand customer needs and demands (e.g. price, quality, fit).
  • Good interpersonal skills – able to build and manage relationships with colleagues and suppliers, communication is key at all times.
  • Illustrator and Photoshop skills an advantage
  • Computer literate MS Word and Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail
