Role Profile Process Development & Scale-up Management Manager (PDSM)

The key objective of the PDSM is generate work program to develop/scale-up of NPD (new product development) aligned to the growth of the Company through the development of strong, long term relationships with target customers and to meet regulatory requirements for ASMF needs.
In doing so the PDSM will play a very active part in developing analytical and manufacturing strategies for the NPD's leading to project planning that is robust and successfully implemented to meet customer timelines. The PDSM will be taking the lead with customer to agree the kick off meetings, schedule weekly or monthly reporting format, develop, manage, and, where appropriate, evaluate change in work program if required
Enjoying a high level of autonomy in the management and development of NPD's the PDSM will take full responsibility for the budget related quotation to support the agreed work program with customer.

Therefore the PDSM will generate a new business leads resulting in a lucrative pipeline of longer term new product and process development opportunities but will also assist in existing product opportunities to improve or analytical method development.
Forging close working relationships with colleagues from QA, QC and operations will generate well thought through commercial development proposals and present these to existing and/or prospective customers.
The PDSM will be a natural leader working throughout to motivate and inspire internal teams and colleagues.

Candidate Specification

It is absolutely essential that any candidate represents a great fit for the role. Working within a relatively small team personality and approach are every bit as important as experience. PDSM will be managing a team of chemist & food technologists. Developing new products and managing relationships across the key business functions requires a high degree of acumen and not insignificant communication skill.

Suitable candidates will be experienced professionals from the pharmaceutical/ Herbal API sector and be able to demonstrate a successful track record in robust economical and environmentally friendly Product development / Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) development along with leadership ability to manage a team. This includes both manufacturing processes and related analytical method development to establish suitable technical release specifications. Crucially they should have had significant exposure to NPD's from lab to commercial launch. Comfortable in the direct management of key customers the candidate will be just as at ease developing, planning and supporting scale-up.

They will have designed development strategies working closely with colleagues from, as examples, technical, QA, QC and operational backgrounds along the way.

The successful applicant will be technically astute, team builder and have an understanding of the API development process along with the challenges customers are likely to face in working with finished formulations and regulatory authorities. They will possess an ability to instinctively recognise which of our products and services represent an ideal fit to the customer.
