Working under the direction of a Senior Carer, key tasks are outlined below:


To receive and understand a report on each resident at the commencement of his/her period of duty.
Either singularly, or with other care staff, to deliver, to a number of residents, care which is relevant and to a high standard.
Perform all allocated care routines, procedures and practices to a high standard, particularly those with regards to health and safety of both residents and staff.

To liaise with the Team Leader to help ensure that the treatment of residents is carried out as prescribed.
To respect and promote the dignity, respect and individuality of each resident with whom the Carer has contact.
To be alert at all times to any changes in a resident’s welfare or medical condition and to take appropriate action within her/his level of competence or to immediately inform the Team Leader.
To contribute through contact with relatives, their understanding of this role, relationships and contribution with regards to the residents.
To listen sympathetically to any complaints, to solve these to the resident’s satisfaction and to report any complaints immediately to the Team Leader.
To undertake Care Assistant roles, as exampled by: laundry, preparation of light meals or hygiene duties.
To undertake development and/or training so as to maintain and enhance her/his caring experience and range of competencies.
To report immediately the malfunction of any equipment outside the Home, particularly of a safety nature.
To understand and know the role to take in all Health and Safety procedures at the Home, particularly those that involve the residents.
To assist in the smooth running of the Home when requested to do so.
