The Operational Risk co-ordinator will join the Risk co-ordination team led by the Risk and Compliance Director. It will support the Head of Operational Risk in the identification, assessment, management, monitoring and reporting of first line risk governance, establishing adequate controls and compliance with Group policies.

About You

Ø Experience of working within insurance risks in financial services

Ø Proven experience of risk management and control systems

Ø Confident presence in front of all levels of colleagues

Ø Strong communicator, both verbally and in writing

Ø Strong inter-personal, influencing and collaboration skills, with ability to challenge constructively to add value

Ø Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail

Ø Able to work as part of a team and on an individual basis

The Details

Support the Head of Operational Risk and liaise with Business Risk Managers to:

Coordinate risk management activities, ensuring their timeliness and quality:

Define risk events and arrangements for identification analysis and reporting ·

Maintain and develop key risk and control assessments

Develop, implement & maintain a suite of Key Risk Indicators (KRI’s)

Define requirements for risk acceptance of “out of appetite” risks

Define action plans, with business teams, to address gaps highlighted in risk assessments, events and KRI’s

Manage risk events, ensuring appropriate escalation and root cause analysis

Recommend Key control requirements as required and ensure review of these, tracking implementation of action plans and overseeing root cause analysis to prevent reoccurrences

Co-ordinate mitigating action for risks deemed outside of the defined appetite or, if appropriate, produce risk acceptance requests for submission to the GI Risk and compliance Committee or Group enterprise risk committee as appropriate

Identify emerging risks and set out the approach to their assessments in terms of potential likelihood of occurrence, magnitude of loss, potential direction and speed of change

Ensure all risks are accurately recorded on Group Risk Management system as required

Deliver annual stress tests and scenarios for material risks

Assess the emerging and strategic risks universe

Attestation process control assurance reviews, monitor completion of audit requirements

Promote an appropriate risk culture across the business which supports the Group’s risk framework and Enterprise Risk Management principle

Ensure timely and relevant reporting to relevant executive risk committees at group and GI level
