My client is one of the leading designers and manufacturers in its sector, and due to the continued growth outstripping the functionality of the business, they are undergoing huge changes throughout the company. The products are leading edge design, with innovation and R&D at the heart of the manufacturing process, ensuring the reliability and quality of the product which is underpinning this expansion, now is a great time to join. Based in the Cambridgeshire market place, you will be exposed to the latest ideas and research in the field within a fast paced modern working environment.

As Safety Standards Engineer, your role will be to ensure that new and existing machinery designs are in compliance with machine safety legislation for both the EU and North America, whilst promoting safe machine design throughout the business. You will also provide a focal point for all machine safety related issues, working closely with internal and external stakeholders on a daily basis.

Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

- Identifying, evaluating and documenting risks associated with the companies range of products.
- Conduct inspections, measurements and audits to evaluate effectiveness of hazard control measures.
- Undertake functional safety analysis of machines, to ensure compliance with ISO13849
- Provide a focal point for technical information on safety issues, relevant and current safety standards and safety legislation.

Ideally degree qualified, or vocationally qualified to a high standard, you will have 3-5 years experience in a similar role - preferably within machinery design, manufacturing and production methods or safety standards. You will have practical experience of general engineering science and technology, and be able to understand technical specifics and drawings of mechanical and electrical components, with the ability to be able to suggest and determine the best available safety devices, control methods, procedures and strategies for the effective protection of people and property. Good working knowledge of PLC controls, HMI's and hazard warning/safety systems is preferred. With regard to existing audit standard knowledge, a background in ISO12100/13849 or 60204 is preferred, as this provides the majority of the workload for existing designs in the UK.

My client offer an excellent package for this role, with a competitive salary and benefits list.
