The Magento Developer Role:
The Developer will work on a range of exciting applications utilising technologies such as PHP5/7, MySQL, SQL Server and modern PHP frameworks, building technologies involving websites, eCommerce and eCRM.
Reporting directly to the Lead PHP Developer, they will be responsible for providing vital assistance in the development and delivery of technical projects across multiple channels.
In particular, they will need expert knowledge of the Magento Framework with an understanding of Magento 2 to support with the ongoing management and development of magazine.co.uk.

Magento Developer Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a good standard of coding and adhere to the same conventions as the rest of the team.
  • Leave code better than you found it.
  • Documenting changes and new build applications.
  • Test your code, be it client or server-side.
  • Be willing to take ownership of projects and to present your proposed solutions to the wider team to nontechnical staff.
  • Ability to perform effectively to tight deadlines, work well both independently and as part of a team.
  • A proactive attitude to problem solving and an understanding of the role of development in a creative environment.
  • Best practise coding with respect to the lifecycle of applications that must be easy to maintain and extend.
  • Be willing to work in a research capacity – to find, test, and critically review open-source frameworks and technologies.
  • Open, honest and direct, is comfortable in giving and receiving constructive feedback.
Magento Developer Knowledge & Experience Requirements:
  • A strong track record of delivering data-driven and customer-facing websites.
  • Expert development knowledge of the Magento Framework with an understanding of Magento 2.
  • Good knowledge of PHP Frameworks.
  • Good knowledge of MySQL & SQL Server.
  • Good general knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Web technologies in general.
  • Good experience writing testable code, unit tests and using test automation.
  • Significant commercial experience of delivering projects.
  • Source control (Git is preferable, or similar will be acceptable).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and in particular the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical staff and stakeholders.
Magento Developer Desirable Skills:
  • Cloud servers (Amazon EC2 & Azure).
  • Experience with other platforms such as WordPress, Drupal, Joomla would be beneficial.
