Your new school

This school is a mixed 11 - 18 comprehensive school based in Cardiff. The school has over 1600 pupils including over 200 and in its popular sixth form. The school is one of the largest in Cardiff and is rated as Green by the Welsh Government. The school are currently recruiting for a full time Science Biology teacher to teach KS3 KS4 and KS5 Science classes. This school draws from a large catchment area, and caters to a large sixth form. Children come from a wide range of backgrounds, and represent the full ability range. The school provides for a significant amount of pupils with additional and special educational needs.

Your new role

Starting in November you will become a key part of the dedicated Science department. You will be responsible for teaching a timetable of KS3 KS4 and KS5 Biology lessons to students, full time five days per week. Your role will enable you to teach and develop students whilst making the most of the schools facilities. The leadership team at the school promote a learning environment where pupils are effectively challenged, and equally supported to achieve and attain. The leadership team prioritise pupil well-being in everything. This is reflected throughout the staff at the school, who work effectively as a team to ensure pupils feel safe, secure and confident. Teaching provision, behaviour and attainment are all of high quality throughout the school, with a clear focus on continuous improvement in all aspects. In inspection, staff were graded as 'excellent' and commended for their provision of varied and engaging Teaching methods, and a high standard of support and guidance for pupils. The leadership team are looking for someone who is genuinely enthusiastic and passionate, to join the Science department and deliver the same level of quality of teaching and learning, care, support and guidance.

What you'll need to succeed

You will be a qualified teacher registered with the Education Workforce Council. You will have previous experience of teaching Biology within a secondary school. You will have a passion for learning and have a strong track record in helping pupils to achieve results. You will also possess strong behaviour and classroom management skills. You will share a commitment to safeguarding and hold a DBS check.
