Apprentice Software Developer
The first high-level programming language was FORTRAN, invented in 1954 by IBM's John Backus.
Baltic Training are excited to be working with Utilities 400 to recruit for an Apprentice Software Developer to join their team based in Bolton.
Utilities 400 were established in 2000 with the sole purpose to create solutions that support and enhance IBM i enterprise applications without modification to the core system. They now work with over 300 customers worldwide and have offices in Bolton, Chicago and Sydney.
They are now looking for a mature and career-minded individual to join their small but successful team.

When it comes to apprenticeships, research shows that apprentices can earn up to £4,000 more per year than their peers. You will be working alongside existing staff and be mentored and trained to carry out the following duties:
- Working on CRM Systems.
- Supporting the team.
- Basic programming.
- Software testing.
Training to be provided:
- Advanced Apprenticeship in Software Development.
- Software Development Environment, Roles and Structure.
- Software Data, Interfaces & Security.
- Software Development Processes.
- Developing Code Using Good Practices & Logic.
- Software Development Requirements.
- Functional Skills; ICT, Maths and English Level 2.
Skills and qualifications required:
- Must be familiar with C#.
- Knowledge of HTML and Web Design is desirable.
- Good general IT skills.
The future is bright
Upon completion of the 12 month programme, there are real progression opportunities available. Along with your employer, you may decide to progress onto our level 4 programme and take your training even further.
Salary, hours and benefits
- £150 per week.
- Full time (37.5 hours per week).
Location and travel
Located in the Centre of Bolton their office can easily be accessed by those travelling via bus or train.
