Hockey Coach- Brockenhurst- Permanent- Part Time (Claims Basis)- £19.21-£26.00 per hour

We proudly supports all students at the College, be it talented athletes who want to represent British Colleges or those who play sport purely for fun. With a proven track record of success, we encourage all of our students to play Sport and be a part of our team!

To help us achieve these aims, we are seeking an individual who is able to deliver high quality Hockey coaching and make a significant contribution to the colleges Hockey Academy. You will possess an in-depth understanding of coaching styles and practical delivery and will be experienced in working with and inspiring 16 – 19 year olds.

The successful candidate will be conscientious with good communication and team working skills. The role will be offered on an annualised hour’s basis, and therefore you will need to be adaptable and have a flexible approach to work across the season.

Job Description

Duties will include:

  • To prepare and implement a well-structured and progressive coaching sessions adhering to the seasonal plan; ensuring a high quality, enjoyable coaching experience centered on the needs of the participants within your team.
  • To be part of the identification of talented young people and encouraging further development via a number of different courses/opportunities.
  • To be a positive role model, creating a positive and professional environment in which to motivate and encourage young people to participate in sport.
  • To be committed to continuous professional development relevant to the post and personal training needs supporting future career advancement.
  • To maintain current knowledge of relevant governing bodies programmes, policies and practices.
  • To carry out all administrative duties as necessary e.g. maintain accurate attendance registers, carry out risk assessments, match selection & communication with students of their selection, communication with parents/guardians where necessary, communication with other colleges to arrange/re-arrange fixtures etc. (this not a definitive list)
  • To assist in the collation of management information as required.
  • To attend regular meetings when necessary/required
  • To develop and maintain effective and positive working relationships with all departmental and college staff, local Clubs, Colleges and Schools.
  • To agree to abide by a code of conduct and carry out duties in accordance to our Colleges’ policies, including equal opportunities, safeguarding children, health and safety at work, etc
  • To undertake other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time commensurate with the grade of the post.
  • To be prepared to carry out work during evening and weekend periods.

Technical Requirements for working within the Sports Academy

Should be able to provide players with a skill set to develop their game, foster lifelong healthy, active lifestyles and improve the long term performance of all individuals, in line with the principles of the LTAD Model.

The post holder should be able to use appropriate coaching and self-help tools to aid individuals to learn the basics needed to reach their full potential.

Successful candidates will possess the following:-

  • Ability to demonstrate an appropriate technique and skill development practices.
  • Ability to enthuse and communicate with 16-19year-olds in a positive learning environment.
  • Energy and enthusiasm and proactive style.
  • Ability to work on one’s own initiative and plan own workload.
  • Passion for Sport and coaching.
  • An understanding of how to differentiate in a coaching session.
  • An understanding of the Sports LTAD model.

Additional information

As the post involves working with children and young people, the post holder will be required to undergo an advanced Criminal Records Bureau check.

The Postholder will:
