Machine Shop Manager An exciting opportunity has arisen for a experienced Machine shop manager to join our clients growing team in Coventry. This position will suit an already experienced machine shop manager with milling and turning experience to move up a level. You will have direct reponsibility for providing operational leadership to a team of 24-30 people. You will be responsible for providing operational leadership to the entire machining delivery to meet and exceed cusomer requirements. Planning and ensuring full recovery of customer order books. Success will ne measured by profitability through achievement of standard cost targets, to agreed project timings and expected quality levels.

Responsible for

1/changes and setting of M/C's within area of responsibility

Cellular standards and setting sheets. SOP's for all new jobs

Achieving/Setting daily/weekly/monthly manufacturing plans.

Component quality being to the achieved to the required performance levels.

Responsible for all skilled machinists within site machine shop team.


Oversee the production process ensuring products are produced to required standards within process time scales.

Lead daily cellular meeting to maintain manufactruing requirments.

Ensure the schedules and production plans are met to satisfy internal customer.

Regularly contact with all shift to understand new project requirements and timescales

Effective achievement of daily/weekly monthly production plan

Operator effectiveness and area manning levels

Regularly contact with all shift to understand new project requirements and timescales.


Effective achievement of daily/weeklymonthly production plan.

Operator effectiveness and area manning levels not to outweigh effective requirements.

KPI measured on both quality and achievement of monthly sales targets.

Audits to be in -line with pre-agreed standards.

All health and safety within cellular area.

Support 5s lean manufacturing tools

Essential skills

Proven track record of successful leadership and skills.

Good understanding of engineering drawings

Good product, engineering and market knowledge

Time served Engineer

Excellent organisational and administration skills

Self motivated, confident and focussed with the ability to know when to be proactive.


Knoweldge of six sigma snd Lean Techniques

Programming capability

ILM 2/3 or above.
