Siemens Mobility, Intelligent Traffic Systems designs, markets, manufactures, installs and maintain a wide portfolio of traffic management products internationally and is the UK market leader in the traffic signal business. This includes intersection and pedestrian traffic controllers, intelligent urban traffic control systems, variable message signs, public transport and car park guidance systems to enhance road safety and improve traffic flow in congested urban and inter-urban areas.

Intelligent Traffic Systems is a growing business and one that employs more than 800 people throughout the UK. With our breadth of operation Siemens is able to offer a wide range of exciting career options either in specialist roles including Design Engineering, Production, Software and Hardware Engineering, or in general management such as Personnel, Marketing, Finance or Field Services.

What are my responsibilities?

- Basic user administration, developer machine setup
- Creating / running the management processes for the network
- Clear and accurate writing skills for the creation and maintenance of documentation
- Planning for future needs and following internal purchase procedures (hardware, software licenses, support, domains etc.)
- Lab area management
- Identify areas for improvement in systems and to research and propose solutions that implement those improvements

Network maintenance

- Monitoring of internet usage/anti virus etc.
- Management of DHCP
- Diagnosis of basic network issues such as subnets/firewall issues
- Experience in LAN/WAN configuration: Router, switch and firewall configurations
- Troubleshooting of network problems

System Administration

- Experience in MS Windows Server 2012/2016 Administration, Windows 7/8/10, Active Directory, WSUS
- Experience in Linux Administration, shell scripts
- Experience in VMware vSphere Administration
- Experience in SAN configuration - fibre channel, iSCSI
- Experience in hardware configuration - servers, blade servers
- Machine maintenance (OS patching, software updating)
- Backup maintenance / DR etc.

What do I need to qualify for this job?

- To succeed you will need good numeric, logical and critical thinking skills and will be able to demonstrate significant dedication to your discipline
- Evidence of practical aptitude via personal experience and results will be an advantage
- The ability to develop good working relationships and communicate effectively are also important for this role
- Demonstrable organizational skills
- Ability to plan and manage small to medium projects from initial requirements through to delivery and maintenance
- Good general IT skills, with evidence of interest or experience in systems/network administration, hardware and software maintenance
- Good interpersonal and communication skills are essential as you will need to understand issues and handle technical queries
- The ability to contribute positively in a team working environment
- Good organisational skills and be able to self manage your time
- Demonstrate creative thinking and be open to new ideas
