Murray Beith Murray, a highly regarded professional services firm located in Edinburgh City Centre, are currently recruiting for a Legal Cashier. Joining an established friendly team, this role reports in directly to the Cashroom Supervisor and offers the opportunity to undertake a varied and interesting role. The successful candidate will be educated to a degree level in a relevant subject or have at least 3 years experience working in a busy, demanding, high volume transactional legal finance environment. The Role Process timeously, domestic and international client payments and receipts electronically, by cheque, or by bank draft. Operate the firm’s online banking systems for client funds transactions, taking into account at all times the firms stated anti-fraud procedures. Process accurately payments being made by BACS, Faster payment, International payment, CHAPS payments, and by inter-account transfer. Opening, closing and carrying out maintenance on client’s designated accounts via the firms banking software Process upliftments and lodgements of client funds on designated bank accounts. Run regular Law Society of Scotland compliance reports taking necessary actions to comply with the regulations Perform daily, weekly and monthly bank reconciliations as required on the firm’s client and firm bank accounts ensuring the firm’s processes and standards are adhered to at all times. Operate the firm’s purchase ledger to include invoice processing and payment. Allocate and process on a daily basis sums received in payment of the firm’s outstanding fees. This includes reviewing and processing movements from client monies held to pay outstanding fees. Perform client, matter and personnel system administration tasks on the firms practice management system. Assisting with all other Cash Room duties as and when required The above list is not comprehensive, but indicative of the role. A full job specification can be provided on request. Essential skills/Compentencies Strong focus on excellent customer service, with a willingness to take responsibility for timely completion of work and resolution of any issues. Flexible, proactive, positive, “can do” attitude. A self starter. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Accustomed to relationship building and liaison with all levels of staff. Strong attention to detail. MS Word and Excel. Educated to a degree level in a relevant subject or at least 3 years experience working in a busy, demanding, legal finance environment. Desirable Skills/Competencies Working towards an accountancy qualification or SOLAS qualified. Knowledge and understanding of the Law Society of Scotland Accounts Rules.
