Anaesthetic Practitioner BristolFull Time£22,000 - £28,000We are currently recruiting for an experienced and dedicated Anaesthetic Practitioner to join a leading team in the Bristol area. Your role will include all aspects of clinical operating department work, and provide a high standard of patient care and safety in accordance with the company's philosophy and objectives, policies and legal requirements.You will also be required to deputise for the Team Leader when required/experience allows. You will also be involved in the assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and work within a flexible team structure involving a multi-disciplinary team.Main Duties & Responsibilities of the PostEnsure skilled care is given to patients either by themselves or junior staff within the department or outside areasTo maintain standard documentation in accordance with the NMC Standards for Records and Record KeepingAble to identify the specific perioperative needs of patients undergoing a variety of surgeries.To act as anaesthetic practitioner for a variety of specialities carried out within the department as directed.To act as anaesthetic practitioner for a variety of surgical specialitiesTo assist in the handover of care to the Mediroom areaTo support the theatre and Mediroom staff as and when requiredPlan, implement and evaluate patient care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary teamMaintain the safety and wellbeing of patients, their relatives and staff in accordance with Health and Safety policiesEnsure all equipment is cleaned, checked daily and maintained and take appropriate action in regards to faulty equipment as per Trust policyParticipate in the ordering and training of new equipmentTake responsibility for ensuring safe lifting techniques when assisting in the movement and lifting of patients and equipmentReport to the Team Leader/Clinical Coordinator accidents, incidents and complaints and drug deficiencies affecting patients, staff, supplies and servicesCommunicate effectively at all times and maintain a harmonious working environment.Take an active role in maintaining effective communication with all disciplines.Assist in the care, labelling and dispatch of specimens for laboratory examination.Assist in maintaining the accurate collection of data in relation to theatre in order that statistics may be accurately compiled.Participate in audit and researchEnsure all clinical and legal documents are completed and that they are accurate and legible in accordance with the Trust guidelines.Ensure the understanding of the nature of confidentialityEducation/Training/QualificationsESSENTIALRGN with recognised post graduate anaesthetic qualificationRegistered ODP. Evidence of CPD.DESIRABLETeaching and assessing qualification (998 or equivalent) or willing to undertake after 2 years post registration (secured a position on this type of course)Evidence of ongoing professional development including post basic educationWork ExperienceDESIRABLEExperience at band 5 across surgical specialitiesEvidence of having completed training for extended roles required for medirooms. i.e. IV drug administration, cannulation, venepuncture, ECGs, male catheterisation, PCA and Epidural training etcKnowledge/Skills/AbilitiesDESIRABLEAdvanced communication skills, verbal & written, to include report writing and record keeping.Excellent interpersonal skills with patients and multidisciplinary team.ESSENTIALEvidence of continuing professional development.Ability to undertake shift work (flexible options available)Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team.Excellent teaching skillsSound knowledge of the guidelines set out in the NMC / HCPC code of professional conduct and current perioperative issuesEffective computer / IT skills and expectation to develop these in line with the needs of the service i.e. IHS, Acis, Email use.Excellent organisational skills, proven ability to problem solve and remain calm under pressurePersonal Qualities/Special CircumstancesESSENTIALFlexibility/ punctuality.Able to work within a diverse community of patients and health care professionalsFor more informtion and or to apply please call Lydia Robinson and or email Lydai.robinson@appointgroup.co.uk
