Data Engineer for ProAgrica ? Part of Reed Business Information and the FTSE100 RELX Group (Forbes Top-60 Employer)
Proagrica is looking for an experienced Developer with a strong background in data to join its expanding Data & Analytics group. This represents an exciting opportunity to join Proagrica and implement and utilise a range of advanced Big Data and Search tools.
The successful candidate will be expected to work within the Core & Analytics team on the implementation of ETL pipelines, data integration components, data query layers and data-rich front ends ? as such, proven experience with Data platforms is essential.
Whilst the bulk of the work would evolve around the High Performance Computing Cluster (HPCC) platform and it?s Enterprise Control Language, any experience with SQL Server, REST/Web APIs and ElasticSearch is highly desirable, since they form an important part of the platforms ecosystem.
The Data Engineer role is based in the Sutton office and will report to a Senior Data Engineer.
Skills & Experience:
- Highly competent in data programming skills, such as SQL.
- Experience of working in a data-centric environment (working with and manipulating data)
- Experience of working with RDBMSs
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder skills
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Agile Development (Scrum)
- A real interest and passion for software development and high quality code
- Experience in HPCC, Big Data, Search or other distributed computing environment (e.g. Hadoop, Elastic) is highly desirable.
- Experience in machine learning & data visualisation.
- Experience of TDD and Object Oriented principles
- Testing Automation
- Jira / Confluence (or similar)
- Amazon Web Services, Azure (or similar)
