Senior Materials Engineer - R&D - Polymers - Characterisation - South West London - £40-45k + Benefits

A rapidly growing company who specialise in polymer technology and materials testing are looking to appoint a senior materials engineer within their technical team in South West London. To be successful you should possess relevant experience in polymer processing activities and materials characterisation testing within a commercial environment.

Senior Materials Engineer Responsibilities:

1.Take responsibility for the company's regulatory compliance - REACH / RoHS / P65.
2.Take technical responsibility for various R&D projects.
3.Serve as a technical day-to-day go-to person for junior team members.
4.Perform materials characterisation tests (impact, mechanical, optical, chemical) in accordance with internationally recognised testing procedures and standards.
5.Write laboratory reports, presenting obtained test results in a concise, clear manner.
6.Actively contribute to new materials development activities.
7.Actively contribute to the development of in-house material and product characterisation methodologies.
8.Work accurately, across multiple projects and disciplines to produce high quality results under tight schedule requirements.
9.Provide trouble shooting and technical support to production sites globally.
10.Carry out root cause investigations to support QA activities.
11.Provide technical support to marketing activities.

Senior Materials Engineer Experience & Qualifications:

1.Qualification in polymer or materials engineering - degree or equivalent.
2.Extensive experience in a materials testing & characterisation or R&D and environment, preferably within the polymer industry.
3.Hands-on experience in polymer processing: sheet or film extrusion, polymer compounding/formulation, injection moulding.
4.Excellent awareness of health and safety requirements in a processing/testing laboratory.
5.Understanding of research and development methodology.
6.Quickly learn new methodologies and develop new expertise.
7.Should be comfortable working in entrepreneurial way, seeking out and exploring ideas and opportunities, whilst maintaining day to day requirements.
8.Good communication skills, able to communicate technical information to non-technical staff.
