Job Description

Responsibilities (including, but not limited to the following):

  • Primary contact between a significant client and Abacus, working 07:00 – 16:00
  • Respond to escalated issues from the helpdesk team in a timely fashion
  • Ownership and follow up of pending issues to resolution
  • Management and maintenance of physical datacenter resources
  • Work with vendors and other services providers to resolve client escalated issues
  • Provide off hours support on a rotating schedule
  • Respond and action alerts from centralized management system to maintain health of platform
  • Provide weekly status updates on outstanding tickets and current projects
  • Management of Multi-tenant hosted Exchange, Citrix and VMWare environment.
  • Have high interaction with Helpdesk team, fostering positive and effective working relationship


  • Advanced Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server technologies:
    • Active Directory
    • Exchange Server 2010/13/16
    • Windows File Sharing (DFS/DFS-R)
    • Group Policy Management and Scoping
    • DNS concepts and functionality
  • Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop technologies:
    • VDA deployment and architecture
    • Remote Access options and architecture
    • Citrix policy application and scoping
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts:
    • TCP/IP and basic addressing
    • LAN/WAN technologies
    • Fundamental understanding of TCP/UDP traffic profiles
    • DHCP,
    • Routing, Switching and Firewalls
  • VMWare
    • Understanding of core VMWare principals (VMWare HA, DRS, Vmotion)
    • Experience hands on management of VMWare ESX platform (5.x or higher)
    • Troubleshooting VMWare based performance issues
  • Knowledge of mobile device management software
    • Activesync Management
    • Profile Deployment
  • Knowledge of anti-SPAM technologies and basic email flow
    • Email routing understanding
    • Hands on with major spam vendor (Barracuda, Proofpoint, Mimecast)
    • Can explain and understand SPF/DKIM/DMARC and anti spam methodologies
  • Basic Linux/Unix understanding
    • How to restart services
    • Install packages
    • Expand resources
  • Knowledge of replication technologies and practical applications
    • Zerto
    • DFS
    • Veeam
  • Scripting knowledge
    • Powershell preferred
  • Highly logical thinker and skilled in identifying root cause of problems.
  • Must be able to work both independently, with limited supervision, and in project team oriented work groups.
  • Must be able to work in a multicultural environment and must be seen as an ambassador of goodwill.
  • Must have availability to work nights and some weekends should the need arise
  • Capital market exposure a bonus, not essential.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in MIS, Computer Science or similar focus

  • Microsoft Certified, MCSE) a plus

  • VMWare Certified Professional a plus

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a systems administration role
