As our client’s first tier preferred supplier, we have an exciting opportunity for you to work within a team environment, providing comprehensive financial administration support to the department.

In the Finance Support Officer Job you will be:

  • Responsible for processing all creditor invoices, raising official orders and processing payments
  • Generating orders using accounting software, ensuring accuracy of usage of expenditure codes, and maintenance of the systems
  • Printing, obtaining and filing official orders on a daily basis
  • Monitoring year end creditor accruals and ensuring all orders/invoices listed are paid accordingly
  • Collating data from invoices for analytical and performance monitoring purposes
  • Reconciling all grant expenditure to the general ledger and also all incoming cash on a daily basis
  • Assisting with the processing of petty cash requests and monitoring and maintaining a stock of financial stationery
  • Checking invoices are arithmetically correct and if VAT is applicable the correct VAT percentage has been applied and meets the specific requirements
  • To be considered for the Finance Support Officer role you must have:

  • Further/Higher Education qualification to AAT level and/or experience/knowledge of Local Government Accounting and Financial procedures
  • Excellent IT skills in ledger packages, spreadsheets, word processing, and e-mail systems
  • Office / Finance Administration experience working within an office environment
  • The ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines, work unsupervised and to make informed and complex decisions and communicate these
  • Good communication skills including both written and verbal
  • This is a full time (37 hours per week) vacancy for a temporary period of 12 weeks to commence in November. The hourly pay rate is £7.50 per hour plus any accrued holiday time whilst on the assignment.
