The Graduate Software Engineer Opportunity:

We are looking to recruit a keen and enthusiastic Graduate Software Engineer with a desire to take a programming/software skillset and focus into an engineering environment with the opportunity to develop software engineering skills in a high technology engineering environment. In particular the role will encompass:

+ Vision software engineering relating to machine vision software development, installations and solutions
+ Learning and using our key machine vision graphical user interface (GUI) software packages
+ Involvement with the specification, development and oversee of software check routines, image processing algorithms, plug-ins and additional software extensions for machines, retro-fit solutions and OEM software sales
+ Understanding the general principles of machine vision hardware relating to camera technology, optics, lighting, filters and mechanical considerations
+ Involvement with the development of custom software projects, algorithms and plug-ins in C# for machine vision as required
+ Involvement in regular vision software engineering meetings for running projects
+ Review of deployed check routines, image processing functions, algorithms and plug-ins to increase software quality of solutions and to drive an increase in software quality deployed by applications engineers
+ Responsibility for development and expansion of the IVS software library relating to machine vision functionality including recommendations for future roll-out/research and development
+ Definition and development of working vision software solutions for use in customer demonstrations, evaluations proposals and systems
+ Pre-sales visits and the development of system and software concepts for potential sales prospects when required
+ Conceptualisation and development of the company’s automatic visual inspection solutions.

Essential:

+ Knowledge of software programming languages.
+ Educated to a minimum 2.1 degree level preferably in Engineering related fields.
+ A logical approach to problem solving.
+ Excellent interpersonal skills – both written and verbal.
+ Well organised, ability to work to deadlines and a high attention to detail.
+ Ability to prioritise a heavy workload.
+ Ability and willingness to work as part of a team.

Desirable:

+ Knowledge of machine vision/image processing.
+ Knowledge of robotics/automation.
+ Clean and full UK driving licence.

Starting from £25,000 + £3,000 bonus (up to OTE £28,000) based on company performance
Holiday: 20 days per year plus bank holidays, rising to 22 after 3 years in continuous employment and 23 days after 5 years in continuous employment, plus public holidays
Benefits: Company Health Insurance scheme following probation period. Opportunity to follow the IET Chartered Engineering CPD scheme to gain fully Chartered Engineer status. Pension Scheme

There is some requirement for flexible working hours and weekend work (overtime paid for weekend work) as required.
