This role involves carrying out mechanical design, analysis and development on the SABRE engine turbomachinery .

Key Accountabilities

Reporting to the Department Team Leader your role will include:
? Providing design solutions for all aspects of turbomachinery.
? Carrying out technical analysis including thermal, stress and buckling analysis using finite element codes.
? Input to the mechanical requirements specifications for the turbomachinery.
? Support of various research and development projects, as required.
? Prepare, present and report technical work to peers, seniors, external suppliers and customers.

Key Responsibilities

? Support the design and analysis of turbo-machinery components, including bearings and seals.
? Carry out mechanical analysis including hand calculations and FE analysis of turbomachinery components.
? Investigate materials and manufacturing methods for the turbomachinery.


? Qualified to degree level in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with some experience in turbomachinery design.
? Applicants who are Chartered Engineers or pursuing a path leading to Chartered status is desirable.

Knowledge and Experience

? Strong knowledge of turbomachinery and power transmissions systems (including bearings and seals).
? Must have experience in the design and analysis of turbomachinery.
? Experience of manufacturing and testing of turbomachinery parts.
? Experience within the aerospace industry would be desirable.
? Must have experience in the use of commercial Finite Element codes and CAD software systems.

Salary range £35K ? £45K.
