We are looking for people to install overhead and underground cabling on the Openreach network, the work is mostly overhead and working from a MEWP.
This role is not for Fibre Splicing, however we have other roles where splicing is involved. This is cabling role.

  • JOB DESCRIPTION

    We are currently resourcing Fibre and Copper Telecoms Engineers to carry out, cabling, fibre blowing, splicing and testing work from the End Users premises, via the Customer Service Point to the Fibre Distribution Point for a national contract.

    Experience is preferred for this role, however training can be offered to individuals who display the right attitude and aptitude.

    This role requires you to work in a 2 man team.

    All works must be tested from the customer end and the correct format of test results must be supplied

    The work for this particular contract may require will require you to work at heights, using harnesses ladders or elevating platform, MEWPS, working within roadside joint locations and working in customers’ premises.

    You will be willing to work in all weather conditions. Foul weather PPE will be supplied along with a vehicle, tools and the equipment required to complete every job safely and to the highest standards.

    Customer satisfaction is key aspect of any work you will carry out and first impressions count. You will need to be customer focused, polite and well-presented.

    BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Willingness to work
  • Willing to travel to and from various job locations within your working area
  • Be prepared to work away from home to meet operational requirements if needed
  • Undertake all necessary training required, this may involve staying away from home.
  • Be prepared to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Visit and work within customer’s premises
  • Ability to work alone using your own initiative
  • Be highly motivated with attention to detail
  • After training, work using hand held testing equipment and i-phones etc.
  • Recognised fibre training accreditation equivalent to C&G 3666-02, C&G 3366-04 or experience of fibre blowing/splicing/testing.
  • Be flexible with regard to working hours as you are will ultimately be paid on a job completion and appointment completion basis
  • If required, be prepared to work weekends (normally Saturdays if needed)
  • Attend accredited training courses if required
  • Be computer literate and after training be able to understand network plans.
  • ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE.

  • Be prepared to undergo a DBS check (formally CRB).
  • Full UK driving license held for a minimum of 12 months.
  • Well presented
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • NON-ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience of telecoms, working off ladders or external network installation.
  • Previous splicing experience
  • Previous overhead linesman work
  • Have worked in an Engineering or technical environment.
  • NRSWA Unit 2 Signing, Lighting and Guarding Streetworks qualification
