The Senior Telemetry Engineer will deliver scalable, robust, secure and resilient Telemetry Automation/ Instrumentation (TAI) infrastructure and services to support the Kelda Group. They will understand Telemetry risk; implement mitigating controls and identify opportunities to innovate. They will also be expected to take a lead technical role on projects, responsible for the delivery of best value & technical outcomes aligned to current business demands.
The Senior Telemetry Engineer will also be responsible for the delivery of quality configurations and standards for telemetry and wider data reporting systems. They will configure, maintain, manage and test telemetry systems to Engineering Specifications and Asset Standards verifying quality assurance across all systems.
What will the role involve?
In your role, you will also be working alongside a team of Engineers, Analysts and a Senior Software Platform Engineer. This team creates new telemetry configurations and end to end testing of telemetered data from remote assets back to central telemetry systems. You will also support the development of new configuration standards, specifications, testing and provide overall support to the telemetry service.
In your role, you will be directly supporting the Telemetry Department purpose, namely to create and leverage corporate knowledge through the effective & efficient management of data, analysis and reporting. Providing information to enable business decisions which create, enhance or protect value and satisfy regulatory reporting requirements.
Candidates will be expected to manage and prioritise workload effectively and to build and maintain relationships with operational customers, colleagues, suppliers and contract partners. Participate in standby duties pertinent to the role and technology stack. Adhering to the Health and Safety policy and standards actively identifying hazards and reporting.
You will have experience of supporting business change, able to coach and drive the right culture and behaviours. Deputise and assist managers where required. Demonstrate corporate values and behaviours and have an awareness of your own role within team and project plans.
What skills are we looking for?
Experience in delivering Telemetry solutions and services within an operational environment, with a proven track record of sustainable performance against business targets. You will communicate effectively at all levels and can understand and interpret the company’s strategic direction.
Logical and analytical behaviours include the ability to be organised and methodical, use time and personal management techniques, ability to work on own initiative, technically competent and commercially aware. Support the upkeep of policy and technical standards on Telemetry Systems.
You will be IT literate and have experience in an industrial asset management environment. You may be required to visit sites across the Yorkshire Region therefore a full valid and clean EU driving licence is essential.
A logical approach and fault finding skills are also required along with an awareness of the security processes required in a control system.
Ideally you will have experience and understanding of enterprise level SCADA systems, PLCs and Telemetry systems. Experience of working with Metasphere Master-Control, GE Proficy, iFix, SCADA, VBA, OSIsoft PI, Unix, Oracle and SQL applications would be advantageous but training would be given if experienced in similar products from other manufacturers. A working knowledge of IEC 61131 would be of benefit.
Qualifications and/or experience following ITIL practices would also be beneficial.
