Engineering Apprentice.

A CNC Drill / Profile Machinist Apprentice will learn all processes of the 2 machine shop areas, operate various pieces of equipment, machine start-up, operation, preventive maintenance and quality, the apprentice will also gain an understanding of engineering a job within the CAM Department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Learn to operate all department equipment, quality checks, preventative maintenance and minor repairs. Operations include: Setting panels ready for drilling, drilling, laser drill and laser profile, profile finished panels, counter bore, countersink, scoring and edge beveling.

Enter jobs into the manufacturing WIP (work in progress) tracking system.

Learn to read Padstats, drill maps and basic drawings.

Learn to Inspect and measure drilled PCB's to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring devices, such as micrometer, vernier caliper, plug gauges, and test board.

Maintain a safe, neat and orderly workplace.

Complete all internal departmental documentation accurately.

Machines currently used:

Schmoll Maschinen XRC x-ray drill.

Schmoll Maschinen MX series twin headers (1 with a loader).

Schmoll Maschinen LM series 2-125 twin header.

2 x Schmoll Maschinen syst. 1-530.

ESI 5200 Laser micro via drill.

Mass SV-100 Plane Raze.

Bohan Edge Beveling machine.

The training will take place at Lema academy in Hockley where you will be required to attend a 6 week programme prior to starting the apprenticeship and you will spend 2 days per week gaining your Level 1 Certificate in Engineering.On successful completion of this, you will move onto your apprenticeship where 1 day a week will be spent in classroom/workshop based learning to gain your Level 2 Diploma in Performing Engineering Operations and Diploma in Engineering and Technology and 4 days with your employer.On successful completion of your Level 2 Apprenticeship, you will then be given the opportunity to progress to our Level 3 Apprenticeship Programme achievement of your qualifications and support with the development of your career and learning long term.

The successful candidate must have a flexible, enthusiastic attitude with good team working ability. The ability to follow instruction and self-motivation is also a pre requisite.

Good IT skills are also essential combined with a minimum of 5 GCSE's grade A - C including Maths and English or equivalent.
