Hour of Work – Monday to Friday Days (8am to 4pm)

Benefits – Overtime Paid at x1.5 & x2.0 of hourly rate / Pension / extensive training

The Company

Our client is one the World’s largest Logistics specialists, with over 50 distribution sites across the UK. Their site at Stansted Airport is specifically set up to deal with airfreight, handling over 30,000 units per week.

With the Logistics sector in an ever upwards growth trend, this multi-billion pound business are currently expanding their Airfreight operations to handle the growing volumes of parcels and packages the site is processing. As such they are currently looking for additional Maintenance Engineers to join their well established team of Engineers.

The Role

As a Maintenance Engineer you will be expected to perform both Electrical and Mechanical repairs on all automated sortation equipment on site. Equipment includes conveyors, tray sorters, cranes, tray loaders and tilt trays. Most of breakdowns will be mechanical in nature, although being that the site is fully automated with PLCs, the Maintenance Engineers will need to be competent on electrical systems.

Mechanical work would include changing bearings, rollers, chains, sprockets, belts, pulleys, shafts, gearboxes and pneumatics, like for like. Electrically, the Maintenance Engineer will need to be able to fault find with a multimeter through to component level, to then change the faulty parts. Electrical components include motors, sensors, switches, fuses, relays, contactors and inverters

As much as the site is automated, the Maintenance Engineers are not required to work with the PLC software as this is dealt with by the Controls Team.

The Candidate

To be successful in your application you must have the following skills or attributes:

  • Must have a recognised Electrical Qualification.
  • Must have previous experience working as a Maintenance Engineer.
  • Must be able to read electrical drawings and fault find with a multimeter.

Due to the excellent training package available, the business are happy to speak to candidates who have left the Armed Forces. Similarly, candidates from other industries who have experience performing maintenance tasks on similar components, are also of interest as full equipment training will be provided.
