Technical Infrastructure Architect (Windows / Azure)

Our client is a marketing services company based in Leeds, responsible for planning, creating and delivering marketing activities for some of the UK’s most recognisable brands. Their culture is honest, open and collaborative, with excellent benefits. They are looking to appoint a Technical Architect with a deep understanding of Windows infrastructure, responsible for creating both high and low level designs and steering implementation teams within an infrastructure-as-a-service environment.

They are based outside of Leeds city centre, with free parking onsite.

The role will involve:

You will be responsible for end-to-end infrastructure design, from initial requirements gathering to final handover to the operations team. The projects will vary in size and scale, and you will be expected to produce both high-level and low-level designs – focusing on the “big picture” whilst also drilling into the details. You will also be responsible for working closely with, and steering the direction of, development and implementation teams towards a shared goal. Specific responsibilities will include:

·Project design – creating high-level estimates, high / low level designs, and detailed budgets from customer specifications.

·You will create detailed project plans and provide timely updates to the Project Management team (regarding SLAs, contract requirements, resource / budget constraints, standards and regulations etc).

·You will install / configure pilots or proof of concepts alongside the implementation team.

·You will create new service definitions, for example, clearly defined support requirements and 3rd party supplier contact information.

·You will liaise closely with the IT Operations team, and inform them of any system procedures that may affect day-to-day activity, and ensure any ongoing support requirements are identified and understood.

We are looking for:

·Ideally you will have started your career as a Windows System Administrator / System Engineer, and although you have now progressed into a Technical Architect role, you will have remained hands-on.

·You will have in-depth knowledge of Windows OS and Microsoft Azure.

·Good knowledge of Cisco ASA, Cisco switching fundamentals, WAN fundamentals, TCP/IP routing, VMWare, Blade Server and WAN technologies.

·Strong customer facing skills – the ability to create high / low level designs based on customer specifications. Customers could be internal stakeholders or external business customers.

·Strong understanding of ITIL principles – demonstrable knowledge of service lifecycle elements such as problem, change, configuration and service level management within an ITIL framework.

·Understanding of business recovery planning and disaster recovery planning.

·Strong knowledge of load balancing technologies, particularly global traffic management and internal application load balancing.

·Excellent project design skills, such as creating high level estimates, high / low level designs, and budget planning.

·Strong pre-sales, bid qualification, requirements gathering and presentation skills, with the ability to plan key milestones on multiple project streams.

·Understanding of monitoring platforms and data transfer technologies.

·Understanding of Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies.

·Experience of working in an infrastructure-as-a-service, software-as-a-service or platform-as-a-service environment.
