British Sign Language Assistant - Leicester - Immediate start - Temporary Post

Your new company
A large Special Needs School based in Leicester are currently seeking a Sign Language Assistant to work 1:1 and with small groups of pupils who are either deaf or have verbal communication issues. The School cater for children from 4 to 16 years old and this post would be covering the whole School.

Your new role
As a Sign Language Assistant you will be working both 1:1 and with small groups of pupils who are either deaf or have a form of verbal communication issue where they need to speak in sign. You will be asked to support pupils across the School from lower primary to secondary and to cover a variety of subjects and classes. You will be supporting both deaf children and those who struggle to communicate verbally, encouraging them to grow both academically and socially.

Your main responsibility is to ensure the pupils you support are consistently working to positive outcomes and are cared for to the highest standards.

This post is to start as soon as possible and the School are open to considering candidates on a full or part time basis working Monday to Friday between the hours of 8.45am and 3.15pm.

What you'll need to succeed
You will need either a valid qualification within British Sign Language or extensive experience with British Sign Language working with young children, ideally those with Special Needs but this is not essential. You will be a motivated and enthusiastic individual with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with students who struggle to communicate verbally.
